This spotlight is mainly designed as a retrofit replacement for existing traditional fixtures. If it is used for a new installation, instead of replacing an old fixture, an additional mounting trim / recessed trim is required for proper installation.
For retrofit installation: the light can replace the existing traditional fixture directly.
For new installation: please use it together with a matching mounting trim / recessed trim. （Something like below picture, the trim is not included).
